Noel Fontanet (1898-1982)
Finely attuned anthropomorphism finds its commercial target, in this case a tailor located in the Plainpalais of Geneva, Switzerland. Known as a location providing various goods and services, “the plain” is appropriately named since its original territory was swampland that underwent reclamation.
Noel Fontanet was a caricature and satire artist who trained at École des Beaux-Arts in Geneva. Much of his work had strong political content.
